About

The Alembic was founded at Providence College in 1920. Since then, the journal has featured the work of PC students as well as the work of established writers across the nation. The Alembic annually publishes poems, works of fiction, interviews with experienced authors, and photography and other mediums of art.

Our mission statement is within the name of the journal. As editors of The Alembic, we are the distilling apparatus that extracts the talent from the flow of creativity. Spring is the season where we work to complete our mission to distill the yield of creativity and present the talents of the literary community. Our staff is small, but our effort is tremendous. Up to the year 2024, The Alembic has published countless issues. To see our past issues, please visit Providence College’s digital commons at digitalcommons.providence.edu/alembic.
